Tiger Tribe | Clay Craft Christmas Ornament Kit

The ones they made themselves are the ones that come out of the box every December for the next twenty years.

This kit makes two clear baubles with a little snowy scene built inside each: a snowman in one, a tree in the other. Everything's in the box, including the miniature figurines and embellishments, the modelling foam snow, and four colours of clay to shape the rest.

The clay is the clever part. Tiger Tribe's Super Clay is a lightweight non-toxic modelling foam rather than traditional clay, so it's soft, easy for small hands to squash and shape, and it doesn't dry out your fingers or crumble. It air dries within 24 hours, which means no oven, no baking, no adult standing by a hot tray. Make it in the afternoon, hang it on the tree the next day.

The clay comes in a resealable container too, so what's left over doesn't harden into a brick. Whatever doesn't make it into the baubles can go into something else entirely.

Two baubles is a good number. One each if there are siblings, or one for the tree and one to give away, which is exactly the sort of present a grandparent or a teacher is genuinely pleased to receive.

It's a proper sit-down afternoon activity, and a far better December rainy day than the alternative.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Does it need to be baked?
No, and that's one of the best things about it. The Super Clay air dries on its own within 24 hours, so there's no oven involved and no adult supervising a hot tray.

What is Super Clay?
It's Tiger Tribe's own non-toxic modelling foam. Much lighter and softer than traditional clay, easy for small hands to squash and shape, and it doesn't crumble or dry your fingers out. The finished pieces are light enough to hang on a tree branch without pulling it down.

Are the baubles glass?
No, they're plastic, which is the sensible choice when children are handling them and they're going on a tree within reach of small hands.

How many does it make?
Two complete baubles: one snowman scene and one tree scene. Everything needed for both is in the box.

Can leftover clay be used again?
Yes, the container is resealable, so anything left over stays soft for another project. Press the lid on properly and it keeps well.

How long does the activity take?
Most children spend a good hour or so on it, longer if they're fussing over the details. Then it's 24 hours of drying before it goes on the tree, so it's worth starting a day before you want to hang them.

Will they last beyond this Christmas?
Stored in a box with the rest of the decorations, absolutely. That's the appeal of a kit like this. The shop-bought ornaments get replaced, the homemade ones keep coming out year after year.

🌟 Adventure Awaits Tip

Write the year on the inside of the bauble before you seal it up. Nobody ever remembers which Christmas it was, and in ten years that small detail is the whole point of it. Have a browse through the full Tiger Tribe range for more craft kits.
