Most air fresheners are something you hide. These are the opposite problem: they're too good-looking to leave in the car.
Commonfolk have taken a product nobody thinks about and made it genuinely lovely. Soft boho artwork, printed on card made entirely from post-consumer recycled material, and infused with fragrances blended right here in Australia. They smell like something you'd pay real money for, rather than the sharp chemical hit of a servo pine tree.
Which is why people keep finding new places to put them. Yes, the rear-view mirror. But also the caravan wardrobe, the linen cupboard, the back of a bathroom door, the office drawer, the boot, the camping gear tub that's been shut since Easter. Anywhere that's closed up and could do with smelling better than it does.

Each one is 70mm x 100mm, about the size of a playing card, and there's a trick to making it last: leave it in the sleeve and just snip one corner off the bottom. The scent releases far more slowly that way, and you can open it further when you want to lift it again.
Eleven designs, four fragrances. Pick by the scent, pick by the artwork, or do what most people do and grab a couple.
🌿 The Fragrances
🥥 Mali - coconut and lime. Ocean waves, summer breeze, palm trees. The easiest one to love, and our most popular by a stretch. On Twin Palms, Party Wave Surfers, Kombi, Horizon Sun and Feel Good Times.
🥛 Byron Bay - almond milk and coconut milk. Soft, warm and gently sweet without being sugary. On Surfer Girl, Warm Heart and Mustard Tail Surfboard.
🌿 Hudson Valley - cucumber, mint, lemongrass and ginger. Crisp, green and properly fresh, the pick if you want clean rather than sweet. On Highland Cow.
🪵 Ubud - agarwood, musk and patchouli. Deep, earthy and grounding, for dreaming and drifting. On Hula Girl and Landscape.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions
How do I make it last longer?
Leave it in the sleeve and cut a small corner off the base end rather than taking it out entirely. That slows the release considerably. When it starts to fade, open the sleeve a little further and you'll get a fresh lift.
How long does one last?
It depends entirely on how you use it. Out of the sleeve in a warm car it'll be strong and fade faster. Left in the sleeve with just a corner cut, in a cupboard or wardrobe, it'll go a good while longer. The sleeve trick is the single biggest factor.
Can it damage my car?
Only if it touches something. Hung freely from a rear-view mirror it's completely fine, but resting against upholstery, a dashboard or a painted surface will mark it. Give it room to swing and wipe immediately if it makes contact.
Where else can I use one?
Anywhere enclosed that could smell better. Caravan wardrobes and cupboards, linen presses, bathrooms without a window, shoe racks, gym bags, camping gear tubs, office drawers and the boot. Anywhere it can hang without touching anything.
Where are they made?
The fragrance is blended in Australia and the packaging is made in Australia. The fresheners themselves are manufactured by Commonfolk's partners in the USA. We think it's worth being clear about that rather than leaving it vague.
How big are they?
70mm wide by 100mm long, so about the size of a playing card. Big enough to be seen and scented, small enough not to block your view from the mirror.
Which fragrance should I choose?
Mali is the crowd-pleaser and the safest bet for a gift, all coconut and lime and summer. Byron Bay is softer and creamier if you like warm sweet scents. Hudson Valley is the fresh, green, cucumber-and-mint option for anyone who finds sweet scents too much. Ubud is the deepest and earthiest, and the one people either adore or find a bit strong. If in doubt, go Mali.
Can I choose the design and the scent separately?
Each design comes with its own set fragrance, so choosing the artwork chooses the scent. The fragrance is listed alongside every design in the dropdown so you know exactly what you're getting.
🌟 Adventure Awaits Tip
One in the car and one in the caravan cupboard is the combination we'd start with. The cupboard one in particular earns its keep, because a van that's been shut up for a month is a different experience with one of these in it. Have a browse through all eleven designs and pick your favourites.
